Born in 1953, he is a graduate of Athens College and holds a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics, an MSc in Economics from the University of Essex, and a PhD in Economics of Education from the London University Institute of Education. He possesses extensive experience in the fields of Banking, Investment Management, and Capital Markets. During the period 1996–2000, he also served as Chairman of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association.
Throughout his thirty-five-year career, he has held senior executive positions within the domestic financial sector. He has served as Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (2004–2009), as well as General Manager of Alpha Bank (Head of the Wealth Management unit) and a member of the Bank's Executive Committee (2009–2017).
Mr. Pilavios currently serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Alpha Asset Management M.F.M.C. and Non-Executive Vice Chairman of ABC Factoring (Alpha Bank Group). He is also a Non-Independent Member of the Board of Directors of Plaisio Computers S.A., Trade Estates Real Estate Investment Company (REIC), and Metlen Energy & Metals.
